The heart is responsible for pumping blood in our body. It receives impure or deoxygenated blood from the body, and pumps oxygenated blood back into the body. An electrical system controls this process of pumping.
Apart from oxygen, blood also carries carbohydrates, proteins and fats required for nutrition of every cell of the body. Hence, circulation of blood throughout the body is necessary for survival. A problem in the heart or the circulatory system impacts the health of our body.
Most heart problems or diseases can be delayed or prevented. Although genetics or heredity can determine whether you develop heart disease or not, in a lot of cases, heart disease develops due to unhealthy diet and lifestyle.
